CHANGE Weekly Bulletin 31st August
CHANGE Team update
It has been a busy week at local and national level for the CHANGE team. Alison has been attending the Children and Young People’s Improvement Collaborative (CYPIC) residential event in Stirling. This three-day seminar will allow Alison to update the other attendees on the work of the CHANGE Hub and receive their feedback on how this can be developed further. We are grateful for the support from the CYPIC for the work of the Hub to date.
We were also in attendance at the North East Glasgow Children and Young People’s Services (CHYPS) forum. This gave us an opportunity to hear service updates from providers that are operating in and around our project area. The main topic of conversation between childcare providers at present is the expansion of Early Learning and Childcare and how this will impact on the operation of their service. Key items raised included staffing, allocation of statutory hours for children and making changes to lunch and snack provision. CHANGE is planning to publish some special ELC expansion editions of our bulletin, covering key information on policy developments and the impact these are having for services and families.
If you are currently providing a service for children and families in North East Glasgow and would like to attend the CHYPS forum please email the Forum Administrator, Colin Agnew, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Family Voices, Glasgow East
We are now in the final stages of preparing our Family Voices, Glasgow East project for sharing. The project, as regular readers will be aware, saw us talk to families living our project area about childcare. During these sessions we recorded some short soundbites to allow us to share the families’ experiences of childcare and other services in an engaging and accessible way. We will be attending local events with audio equipment to allow families living in and around our project area to listen to what others are saying about how it feels to be accessing services in Glasgow East. Below you can see a quote from one of our participants talking about the impact the cost of childcare can have on a family. If you are interested in having us along to present the Family Voices project at your event then please contact our Project Officer, Anthony O’Malley, email@example.com.
CHANGE Knowledge Exchange – Monday 8th October, Tollcross, Glasgow
We will be holding our second Knowledge Exchange event on Monday 8th October, at Tollcross International Swimming and Leisure Centre in Glasgow. This free event will be an opportunity to hear about the work CHANGE has been doing in the last year, along with our plans for the next 12 months.
We will also hear from other services and individuals who are contributing to the work of CHANGE and other services in the project area. Part of the day will also be spent outdoors to allow us to discuss the possibilities that green space offers for the development of childcare and play services.
To stay up to date with event booking information, please take the time to complete this short GDPR survey to ensure we can send an invite directly to you. The survey can be found here. Alternatively, you can make a booking directly via the Children in Scotland website here.

With Kids, a charity offering a range of therapeutic services to families, is hosting a conference on children and childhood to celebrate its 10th anniversary. With Kids’ Glasgow-based service borders the CHANGE project area and our community engagement work has benefitted greatly from their input.
The event, A Weans World, takes place on Friday 7th September in Glasgow and will provide an opportunity for With Kids to share what they have learned from children and families over the past decade.
Further details, including pricing and booking information, are included on the poster shown below.
